Science-fiction is a quite recent literary genre. Stories of that genre are mainly based on the extrapolation and prediction of a more or less possible future. Examples of early science-fiction are most of the novels of Jules Vernes, who lived in the late 19th century. Later this genre had become excessively popular in the second half of the 20th century at the dawn of the Space Age. Most of the great science-fiction novels, short stories, magazines, movies and TV shows come from that period.
